Hello? Hello?

No one likes to be disconnected when he is talking on the telephone, but there's a kind of disconnection that's even more harmful and hurtful. That's the disconnection that occurs when parents and children don't talk and become alienated from each other. When this happens, a young person becomes much more vulnerable to the temptation to make a wrong moral decision.

How many clients of pregnancy help centers have suffered the desolating disconnection of the death or disappearance of a loved one or of family rejection due to their crisis pregnancy situation? These precious souls need forgiveness and love in order to heal and feel reconnected.

Probably even more devastating to the young person experiencing a crisis pregnancy situation is the fact that if that young person comes from a church background, he or she may be ostracized, condemned, or embarrassed because of his or her sin. I believe that pregnancy help centers have much to teach not only our young people, but also the adults in churches in our communities. This teaching might start as post-abortion counseling and eventually grow to include abstinence training.

Have you and your center's staff and board thought about how you can interact with the Gospel-preaching churches in your area? Only the Gospel of Christ can effect the kind of life transformation that keeps crisis pregnancies from happening. While it is difficult for us to climb out of the trenches from helping those who have current problems, I think we would be remiss if we did not exploit the opportunity to train those who can help young people by presenting Christ as a life-changing alternative.

May God bless you as you seek to inform His people.
