Political cycles come and go. Republicans are in power, and then Democrats get elected when people want a change. Sometimes change is hard to take. But in reality, change is the only constant in this sin-soaked society.

Recent changes in the configuration of the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate may have caused you to wonder if pro-life causes will come under closer scrutiny by liberal politicians. While we don't know what the future holds for those who love babies and the women who bear them and want them both to live full and happy lives, we can be assured that God is not sitting in heaven wringing His hands about the situation.

While Americans taken as a whole may appear terminally schizophrenic in their attitude toward the health and welfare of young women in crisis and even their own children (as was expressed in the defeat of a California proposition that makes parental notification of a pregnancy before abortion mandatory), we should always remember that God is not capricious or driven by convenient cover-ups to sexual sin.

God does not change. His sovereign will regarding each and every person on the planet will be carried out. Regardless of the changes we see that may make us anxious, we must always remember God's Word when He says to us, in the book of Numbers, chapter 23, verse 19: "God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?"
